There continues to be a problem with someone re-opening up the closed off trail that more less runs parallel with the first part of BKB. Our MTB strategy is quite clear, we will not allow any further new trail building on The Hurtwood. We currently need to work on our existing network to make it manageable and sustainable. Obviously a considerable amount of effort was used to create these jumps using the felled trees.
We’ll continue with our policy of putting beyond use any trails we find.
Hi there,
just found this blog.
I walk my dog in Hurtwood and also ride my mountain bike there and share your frustration with unsanctioned trails. Can I just say how useful it is being able to know what I can ride on and what I cannot ride on. Clearly i don’t want to abuse the privilege.
I’ll let other riders know of this blog.
Thanks for your efforts.
It must be almost impossible to keep everyone happy.
Hi,
I would second Chris’ comment. I’ve found that so long as we are considerate, flexible and polite in the way we ride in the Surrey Hills, the other users or the area are also exceptionally considerate, flexible and polite in letting us do so.
It would be nothing short of a disaster if an inconsiderate minority caused restrictions to be placed on mountain biking on Hurtwood.
